The Mendoza Message for the
Week of May 1, 2025
May is finally here. We are getting near the end of the school year. This tends to be a very busy time. Please look below at what is already on our schedule.
Remember, there is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, May 6th.
Today, the children enjoyed their field trip to Tappan Middle School to see Moana Jr. The performance was amazing. We also enjoyed the colorful costumes, setting, and props. Thank you chaperones. You were very helpful. I truly appreciate it.
Again, our former Lawton theater teacher Julie Strassel is directing Moana Jr. with Tappan Players at Tappan Middle School! If you are interested in attending, the shows are May 2nd-May 4th. Tickets are $12 general admission seating. Feel free to spread the word! https://cur8.com/40463/project/131282
This is our last week sending home Math Home Links. If you would like to have more math practice at home, feel free to use one of these two websites:
https://www.dadsworksheets.com/
Also, this is allergy season. There are a number of students with watery eyes, itchy eyes, running noses, coughs and sneezes. So, please remind your child to catch their sneeze and to use tissues. Then, please remind your child to wash their hands afterwards. Just in case it is a cold and not allergies.
On Friday, your child sent home a field trip form for our field trip at Freeman Environmental Educational Center on 5/13. I did attach a letter about what to expect on this field trip to the field trip permission slip. Please read the letter carefully, so your child will be prepared for the field trip.
Also, remember to turn in the Talent Show form by May 5th, if your child would like to be in it. In case you misplaced the form, the bottom of this newsletter has the form.
Lastly, please note, the date of Field Day has changed. It is now on Friday, May 23, 2025.
Remember to look at the Lawton Lost and Found regularly. The children are taking off their coats when they are outside for recess and forgetting to bring it in. Therefore, there is a large number of coats in the Lost and Found.
If you would like to volunteer in the building during school hours you will need to complete this background check: Complete Volunteer Background Check 24-25
Completing the background check allows you to be with children during the school day, class parties, and to chaperone field trips. If you think you might be helping out at any time during the year, please fill it out now. Don’t want to wait until the last minute.
Again, here is the QR Code to the Amazon “Wish List”, since I have added some items.
Remember, please charge the laptop to 100%, so it is ready for use in the classroom for Monday.
