The Mendoza Message

for

September 6, 2024

This week went by quickly.  Friday after school was very busy since Biden was

in town.  If you send an email to the office about being picked up early or a

change in pick up routine, please include me in the email too.

The upcoming week will be our first full week of school.  Please make sure your

child gets to bed at a decent time.  They will be tired during this first full week of

school.  It has been a while since they had a full week of school.

I wanted to let you know that I will not be reading emails after about 4:00 pm,

over the weekend and during school breaks.  I will reply to your email as soon as

I can when I return to work.

There has been a change to our special schedule.  The updated schedule is below.

Please look it over.

During Snack Time, your child still needs to bring in fresh fruit and veggies.

Your child should not be eating chips or cookies. They can have it for lunch.

Another item, please make sure your child dresses for the weather. Last week, it

was hot.  But, this week was cooler, especially in the morning. Also, please make

sure your child brings a water bottle to school.  They will need to have a water

bottle with them everyday.

Yes, the laptops and charging cords are here.  Your child has started to use them

in school.  Next week is NWEA.  So, I am keeping the laptops in school for

another week.

After we complete the NWEA, I will send home the laptop, charging cord and

add a QR code to the “white”Lawton folder.  Once home, the charging cord will stay at home.  We will not collect the charging cord until the end of the year. So, please place the charging cord in an area where you can find it.

Another item about laptops.  Once the laptops go home, remember, it is your

choice if you want your child to be on their laptops over the weekend.  Just watch

your child when they are on their laptops. Please keep the laptop in a safe place

when it is not in use.  Finally, if there's a problem with the laptop, please contact

ITD. Here is the information to contact them (which is on the AAPS website-

under “Students & Parents” -> “Parent & Family Resources“-> “Family

Tech Support”):

Hours of Operation
Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

I do have a blog ( https://mendozaclassroom.blogspot.com/)

and a web page (https://mendozaclassroom.wixsite.com/mendozaclassroom).

The blog is a place where I place my newsletters.  This way, you have one place

to find all of my newsletters in one spot, and you don’t need to look through your

emails.  My web page is a resource spot.  I have links to multiple websites, links

to my blog and I plan on having an area to find Math Family Letters and Home

Links.

Thank you for returning the white Lawton folders as a daily “Home Folder”.

Your child is to bring it back and forth to school daily.  If you have any notes for

me or the office, please put it in the folder.  I look through them every morning.

Again, right now, there is no homework.  I will talk about homework on Curriculum

Night- Tuesday, September 17th from 6-7:50. The first homework will be coming

home after Curriculum Night.

Remember, every child can receive free breakfast and lunch this year.  Please

note, that in order for it to be free, your child needs to take a complete breakfast

and/or lunch. A la carte purchases (like only getting milk with lunch) will be

charged to families.

Here is some helpful information from the school nurse.  Just click on the link.

Lastly, thank you for donating items from my “Wish List”.  One item that is

not on the Wish List that I would love to have is tissues.  Allergy season is here,

and the children would need them.  Again, here is the QR Code to the Amazon

“Wish List”:
