On Friday evening, the rain held off to make sure that the Run-a-thon was a wonderful event. I hope your children share what they learned about Johnny Appleseed on Thursday.
This is the time of the year that the temperatures will vary. Please make sure your child is dressed properly for the weather. Your child may need to layer their clothing as the temperature gets colder. Also, please label your child’s items. If it is left in the classroom, I can make sure they will get it back. Another thing, please check daily that your child brought everything home. If something did not make it home, please check Lost and Found, Lunchroom and the Bus (for those who take the bus) right away. The quicker you notice it is missing, the quicker it will make it back home. And labeling your child’s items will make it easier to find too.
Here is the link to the Parent-Teacher Sign up Genius. Please sign up for a time if you have not done so yet. Also, I am leaving this in my newsletter, so you look and see when you sign up. Lastly, at my Parent-Teacher Conference, you may bring your child.
If you would like to volunteer in the building during school hours you will need to complete this background check: Complete Volunteer Background Check 24-25
Completing the background check allows you to be with children during the school day, and to chaperone field trips. If you think you might be helping out at any time during the year, please fill it out now. Don’t want to wait until the last minute.
Again, here is the QR Code to the Amazon “Wish List”, since I have added some items.
Remember, please charge the laptop to 100%, so it is ready for use in the classroom for Monday.

AAPS FAMILY ASSISTANCE/REUNIFICATION PLAN
The Ann Arbor Public Schools is well-prepared to provide student and family assistance when a decision is made that students should not be on school property. AAPS has a trained family assistance/reunification team that responds to schools during emergency situations such as power outages, electrical hazards, gas leaks and an emergency incident or active threat.
You can read more about the AAPS Family Reunification Team process as well as watch a video that explains how the district will respond to serve your students and you during emergency situations.

What we are doing in the classroom:
ELA: In Reading, we are working on making predictions. In Writing, we are generating ideas for a small moment.
Math: We are almost done with Unit 1: Establishing Routines in EDM. We have worked on equivalent names for numbers, sums of 10, number grid puzzles, Even Numbers and Odd Numbers.
Science: We started our Unit: Shifting Sands. Right now, we are learning about maps, and finding the landforms/waterways on a map.
Social Studies: We just started our first Unit: Geography. The information that we have learned in Science is blending into this unit. In this unit, we will be learning about maps. We will be creating a Michigan map that includes landforms, waterways, etc.
Word Study: We just finished learning about digraphs (ck, th, sh, ch, wh, ng, nk and ph). Next, we focus on learning how to write words with a Vowel-Consonant-silent “e” ending.
