The Mendoza Message

For

November 1, 2024

Halloween was a wonderful day.  It was not cold, rainy or snowing like it has in the past.  I would like to send a huge “Thank You!” to all of you and your help with our Fall Party yesterday.  The children had a great time.

Now that I am feeling better.  This is a reminder to have a conversation with your child.  Please remind your child to cover coughs and sneezes.  Also, remind your child to properly wash their hands.  Germs are everywhere, and this is not even the start of the flu season.  You never know where, when and/or what you can catch.  Myself and my entire family found out how quickly those germs spread. Since there are a number of illnesses out there, I will remind the students to wash hands and cover coughs and sneezes.  I do have kid size masks in the classroom whenever a student chooses to wear one.

Please remember that this weekend is Daylight Savings. Remember to move your clocks back 1-hour Saturday night, and enjoy that extra hour of sleep on Sunday morning.  Our bodies need a reminder of when to wake up and go to sleep.  So make sure your children are getting enough rest until their body has adjusted to the new time change.

The energy level was very high the past couple of days due to Halloween, Early Release, and PJ Day.  Hopefully, your child got enough sleep over the weekend.

Lastly, please remember to keep all candy at home, and that your children are not eating the candy before school.

Monday, November 4th is the All School Conference Night.  In fact, that is my last conference night.  I will see the last of my family that day. Please click the link to the Parent-Teacher Sign up Genius. This way you can reference the time you scheduled your conference with me.   Remember, at my Parent-Teacher Conference, you may bring your child. Lastly, if the front doors are not open, please use the doors at the back of the building by the lunchroom.  I will be at the door to bring you in.

Remember, there is NO SCHOOL on TUESDAY- Election Day.

As we have seen, this is the time of the year that the temperatures will vary.  Please make sure your child is dressed properly for the weather.  Your child may need to layer their clothing.  Also, please label your child’s items.  If it is left in the classroom, I can make sure they will get it back.  Another thing, please check daily that your child brought everything home.  If something did not make it home, please check Lost and Found, Lunchroom and the Bus (for those who take the bus) right away.  The quicker you notice it is missing, the quicker it will make it back home. And labeling your child’s items will make it easier to find too. FYI, when I was out, I came back to a classroom with a number of jackets in the classroom with no name inside.  So please check daily, and label your child’s items.

Please look at the Lawton Lost and Found.  It is starting to get filled up.

If you would like to volunteer in the building during school hours you will need to complete this background check:  Complete Volunteer Background Check 24-25

Completing the background check allows you to be with children during the school day, class parties, and to chaperone field trips.  If you think you might be helping out at any time during the year, please fill it out now.  Don’t want to wait until the last minute.

Again, here is the QR Code to the Amazon “Wish List”, since I have added some items.

Remember, please charge the laptop to 100%, so it is ready for use in the classroom for Monday.
