The Mendoza Message

for

March 14, 2025

Spring is almost here.  The first day of Spring officially starts Thursday, March 20th.  We will be having some beautiful weather this weekend.  Hopefully, it will stay.

March is Reading Month is here.  The Lawton March is Reading Month Calendar was sent home.  But just in case it did not make it home, below is the Lawton March is Reading Month Calendar. Below is the March Reading Log, in case your child misplaced it. Thank you Mr. Denay, Mr. and Mrs. Zalewski, and Ms. Bessinger for being our “Guest Reader”. Again, click here for the Sign-up Genius for being a Guest Reader.

On Friday, March 21st, it will be Flashlight Friday and Pajama Day.  The entire building will be reading in the hallway at the same time.  Therefore, your child can bring a beach towel to sit on.

The first day of Spring will be this upcoming week.  But you never know what type of weather we will get. So, please remember to make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.  I think the snowpants can be put away.  But I hope I did not jinx myself.  Your child still may need some type of boots for those rainy/muddy days.

Remember to look at the Lawton Lost and Found regularly.

If you would like to volunteer in the building during school hours you will need to complete this background check:  Complete Volunteer Background Check 24-25

Completing the background check allows you to be with children during the school day, class parties, and to chaperone field trips.  If you think you might be helping out at any time during the year, please fill it out now.  Don’t want to wait until the last minute.

Again, here is the QR Code to the Amazon “Wish List”, since I have added some items.

Remember, please charge the laptop to 100%, so it is ready for use in the classroom for Monday.

Trails Lesson 16:

Lesson 16 - Applying Social Awareness

This week’s lesson focused on applying all the skills we've learned in various settings—at school, at home, and in the community—as we wrapped up our final lesson in the Social Awareness unit. We reflected on our support systems and reviewed the concepts of empathy and diversity. As we conclude this unit, we’ll now shift our focus to developing Relationship Skills in the upcoming unit!
