March 21, 2025

Spring is officially here.  We did have some nice warm days during the middle of this week.  But the cold, rainy weather came back.  Hopefully, we will have consistent Spring temperature weather soon.

Remember, Spring Break starts today after school.  There is NO SCHOOL next week.  We return on Monday, March 31st.  If you know you will not be here at the beginning of the week of March 31st, please inform me and the office.

March is Reading Month is almost done.  The Lawton March is Reading Month Calendar was sent home.  But just in case it did not make it home, below is the Lawton March is Reading Month Calendar. There are still items to do during Spring Break. Also, below is the March Reading Log, in case your child misplaced it. I will be collecting them on Monday, March 31st.

Thank you Ms. Ha, Ms. Taylor, and Ms. Rieckhoff for being our “Guest Reader” this week

The children enjoyed all of the fun activities this week.  Monday started off with “Book Tasting”.  The children were able to look at books.  Please see the photos below. Wednesday, Slauson’s 8th grade choir performed for Lawton.  On Thursday, they enjoyed the 4th grade performance.  Lastly, on Friday it was Flashlight Friday and Pajama Day.  The entire building silently read in the hallway at the end of the day.

Spring is here. So, please remember to make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.  You never know what the temperature will be from day to day.  Your child still may need some type of boots for those rainy/muddy days.

Remember to look at the Lawton Lost and Found regularly.

If you would like to volunteer in the building during school hours you will need to complete this background check:  Complete Volunteer Background Check 24-25

Completing the background check allows you to be with children during the school day, class parties, and to chaperone field trips.  If you think you might be helping out at any time during the year, please fill it out now.  Don’t want to wait until the last minute.

Again, here is the QR Code to the Amazon “Wish List”, since I have added some items.

Remember, please charge the laptop to 100%, so it is ready for use in the classroom for Monday.

Spring is almost here.  The first day of Spring officially starts Thursday, March 20th.  We will be having some beautiful weather this weekend.  Hopefully, it will stay.

March is Reading Month is here.  The Lawton March is Reading Month Calendar was sent home.  But just in case it did not make it home, below is the Lawton March is Reading Month Calendar. Below is the March Reading Log, in case your child misplaced it. Thank you Mr. Denay, Mr. and Mrs. Zalewski, and Ms. Bessinger for being our “Guest Reader”. Again, click here for the Sign-up Genius for being a Guest Reader.

On Friday, March 21st, it will be Flashlight Friday and Pajama Day.  The entire building will be reading in the hallway at the same time.  Therefore, your child can bring a beach towel to sit on.

The first day of Spring will be this upcoming week.  But you never know what type of weather we will get. So, please remember to make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.  I think the snowpants can be put away.  But I hope I did not jinx myself.  Your child still may need some type of boots for those rainy/muddy days.

Remember to look at the Lawton Lost and Found regularly.

Trails Lesson 16:

Lesson 16 - Applying Social Awareness

This week’s lesson focused on applying all the skills we've learned in various settings—at school, at home, and in the community—as we wrapped up our final lesson in the Social Awareness unit. We reflected on our support systems and reviewed the concepts of empathy and diversity. As we conclude this unit, we’ll now shift our focus to developing Relationship Skills in the upcoming unit!

March is here.  With this week’s weather, it may be following the saying- “In like a lion and out like a lamb”.  Hopefully, the Spring weather will come soon.

Daylight Savings is this weekend. Please remember to move your clocks forward 1 hour Saturday night. Because of the time change, your child may be tired next week.  Please make sure your child gets enough sleep as their body is adjusting to the new time change.

March is Reading Month is here.  Hopefully you are doing some of the activities listed on the Lawton March is Reading Month Calendar. Just in case you can not find it, below is the Lawton March is Reading Month Calendar.

Also, on Monday I sent home a March Reading Log. Again if you misplaced, you can find it below too. Thank you to those of you who have signed up to be a “Guest Reader”. Again, click here for the Sign-up Genius for being a Guest Reader.

Again, in typical Michigan weather, we will never know what type of weather day it could be this week. So, please remember to make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.  I always tell the children that boots and snow pants not only do they keep you warm, but also dry and clean from the mud. We are working on keeping the mud outside and not in the classroom.  The children are doing a wonderful job on sweeping up all of the dry mud on the floor.

Remember to look at the Lawton Lost and Found regularly.

Trails Lesson 15: Diversity

Newsletter Blurb: This week we learned about diversity. Diversity means that no two people are exactly the same. We can look different on the outside, have different interests and cultures and even speak different languages. We can respect people who are different from us. We can make others feel safe and included by appreciating them for who they are.We had fun celebrating the diversity in our class!
